Our new AX3 is a six-band, POTA-ready whip antenna/tripod system designed for rapid-deployment, table-top operation at parks, campgrounds, or in your backyard.
With the high bands on fire, the AX3 lets you work the world, at up to 30 W -- instant adventure, wherever you go! Operate on any band from 30 through 10 meters,
selecting bands with our unique, high-reliability 4-position contact block. There's no need for taps or long jumper wires, since the AX3 works with your rig's built-in ATU*.
There are also two counterpoise attachment points, for maximum versatility: a binding post as well as a mini-banana jack.
The AX3 has unique features that simplify mounting as well as transport. It includes its own ultra-compact tripod, as well as a 1/4-20 threaded base mount for use with
standard camera tripods and hiking poles. The telescoping whip, base, and tripod legs are only 6" long, so they'll fit in our smallest radio go-bags. The BNC jack comes
out at a 90 degree angle -- no need for right-angle adapters or clamps. Just add a short coax cable to the rig (e.g. our 3 foot [90 cm] model AXC3). As with the AX1 and
AX2, the AX3's whip extends to 45" (51" total, counting the base). This compact length has been field-proven over countless field activations.
* An antenna matching device (such as an ATU) is required with the AX3 for fine impedance matching. Resonances with the 10, 14, and 18 MHz contact block settings
are close to the 30, 20, and 17 meter ham bands. The fourth setting ("> 21" MHz) is resonant at ~24 MHz, and is intended for use on 15, 12, and 10 meters.
All Elecraft transceivers include optional built-in ATUs that are compatible with the AX3.
