Shortwave reception technology has made big steps forward due to the introduction of the
Direct Sampling technology. The PERSEUS, a Software Defined Receiver (SDR), did set
standards.

The converter introduced here expands the frequency range of the PERSEUS allowing
reception of the 2M band (possible on any receiver capable of receiving 10 meters).

The combination PERSEUS and DCM-2 gives a 2-m receiving station with outstanding
technical features: Sensitivity, large signal performance and dynamic rangest are on the highest
technical standard and will satisfy even demanding users.

Of course other receivers may also be operated in combination with the DCM-2.
SSB-Electronic GmbH offer you also converters for the 70-cm and 23-cm bands in the future.

Heart of the DCM-2 is an active, double-balanced broadband mixer with a typ.
Intercept-Point (IP3) of > 20 dBm at the input. The prestage of the converter uses a modern
internally negatively fed back E-PHEMT IC, which convinces by an very low noise figure of
0.9 dB and a first class linearity. The IP3 of this module is > 30 dBm.
The necessary preselection and spurious suppression is guaranteed by a 3-stage
Helix-Filter.

Especially for the DCM-2 a new mixing oscillator was developed. This crystal driven
oscillator uses two selected FETs and several Schottky-Diodes for creating a very spurious-free
and low noise output signal.
The DCM-2 has a HF-tight tinplate housing, a N-socket for the 2-m input and a BNC-socket
for the IF-output.
The operating voltage is 9 - 14 V, a reverse voltage protection is built-in.
